I know. It's not about quantity. It's about quality. And of course, Houston passed Chicago in the quality category a long time ago. However, we're Texans, and we like big. So when we do finally surpass Chicago (Chi-town added 7,270 people between 2009 and 2010, while H-town added 48,529), it will be a sweet victory for a young city.

Houston added 48,529 people between 2009 and 2010, keeping the Bayou City as the fourth-largest city in the United States. The city's population is 2.30 million as of Nov. 22, up from 2.25 million at the same time in 2009, according to statistics compiled by Buffalo Business First. Complete results from the 2010 decennial census will not be available until next year to finalize the numbers. Read more: Houston retains 4th-largest city title | Houston Business Journal
