Westbury / Maplewood / Brays Oaks
Westbury, Maplewood, and the broader Brays Oaks area are located in Southwest Houston, just South of Bellaire and Meyerland. This area of Houston was developed in the mid to late 1950s and 1960s. The homes located here are primarily mid-century homes of brick construction. Most of them are one story homes with lot sizes ranging from 6,000 to 10,000 square feet.
Westbury and Maplewood specifically have become extremely popular with families and young professionals. These homebuyers come for the large lots, affordability, and convenience to Houston’s major business and shopping districts. Specifically, the commutes to the Texas Medical Center, Galleria, Rice Village, and Greenway Plaza are pretty reasonable.
In 2007, Westbury was named one of the “Best Hidden Neighborhood” by the Houston Press. The neighborhood was also listed in the 25 Hottest Houston Neighborhoods in the June 2013 edition of Houstonia Magazine. With home prices remaining affordable in the area, more accolades are sure to come.
